Business Solutions announces Chain of Custody Certification from
FSC and SFI
September 7, 2009
As part of a broad
commitment to corporate social responsibility, More Business
Solutions announced today it has achieved certification to both
the independent Sustainable
Forestry Initiative (SFI) and the Forest
Stewardship Council (FSC) chain-of-custody standards
for its Norcross, GA digital print facility.
"At
More Business Solutions we are strongly committed to both
the environment and the needs of our clients,” said
Denise Roath, CEO. "SFI and FSC chain-of-custody
certification plays a key role in our environmental policy
along with steps we have taken to reduce energy consumption
and recycle appropriate materials. Having chain-of-custody
certification helps us empower our customers to make educated
environmental choices about the print products they buy,
while still receiving the highest quality products and services"
With
more than 160 million acres certified across North America, the
non-profit SFI sustainable
forestry certification program is one of the largest in the world,
with a standard based on principles and measures that promote
sound forest management including measures to protect water quality,
biodiversity, wildlife habitat, species at risk and forests with
exceptional conservation value. Through SFI chain-of-custody
certification, companies must have a tracking system in place
so they can tell customers the amount of certified, uncertified
and recycled content in the forest products they buy, use or
sell.
“At
a time when just 10 percent of the world’s forests
are independently certified, More Business Solutions joins
a growing community of companies, landowners, and social
and environmental organizations who have demonstrated their
environmental commitment and leadership by achieving SFI
certification,” said SFI Inc.
President and CEO Kathy Abusow.

FSC is
an independent, non-governmental, not for profit organization
established to promote the responsible management of the world’s
forests. FSC is
a certification system that provides internationally recognized
standard-setting, trademark assurance and accreditation services
to companies, organizations, and communities interested in responsible
forestry. In 2009, FSC had
certified over 250 million acres of forest worldwide. The FSC label
provides a credible link between responsible production and consumption
of forest products, enabling consumers and businesses to make
purchasing decisions that benefit people and the environment
as well as providing ongoing business value.
